In addition to heirloom custom nativity settings, Navidad Nativities has created other custom biblical dioramas for clients from garden tombs to the Crucifixion.

This piece features Jesus Chasing Money Changers From The Temple.  It is created entirely of wood in a distinct architectural style that reflects that time period.  The custom figures are collaborative design detailed by Navidad and crafted by our friends at Heide Original in The Dolomites at Val Gardena, Ortisei, northern Italy.  The figures are made from wire armature with wooden heads, hands and feet and clothed with starched fabrics that are hand painted.  The base of the piece measures  12” x 16”.

Jesus chased money changers from the Jerusalem Temple courts, overturning their tables and driving out sellers of animals, accusing them of turning God’s house into a “den of robbers” or “market,” an event recorded in all four Gospels (John 2, Matthew 21, Mark 11, Luke 19) and occurring at least twice: once at the start of his ministry and again before his crucifixion. This act demonstrated his anger at the commercial exploitation and corruption within the sacred space, particularly the exploitative exchange rates and inflated prices for required sacrifices.
