In one of our latest creations, Navidad Nativities has once again re-imagined the traditional Christmas Crib. Encased within an antique traveling Assayer’s Apothecary Case, this Nativity represent the alpine Christmas traditions of South Tyrol, the mountain region of Northern Italy. Traveling Assayer’s Cases were used in the early 1900’s to weigh gold and silver, as well as pharmaceuticals, on the road. The original brass scale has been removed.
The Original Ulrich Collection of carved wood and hand-painted figures are set in a traditional wooden stable, one typical of the Dolomite Mountains, with a light dusting of snow, a reflection of winter in the “old country”. An original night sky painting serves as a backdrop to the setting. Adjustable LED lights provide flexibility for the location of the nativity. Figures are permanently attached but accessible via the front glass panel which can be raised up.
