In the early part of the 20th Century, these cases housed finely tuned brass scales used for weighing pharmaceuticals and precious metals like gold and silver. At Navidad Nativities, we carefully removed the scales and adapted these antique gems to house distinctive nativity settings. Protected from dust and dirt, and little fingers as well, each one is a unique work of art. Backed by an original painting, the scene evolves with a grotto or stable setting and a limited number of figures. In this case, the figures are from the Immanuel Collection of Original Heide, Val Gardena, Italy. Each figure is created by hand. Individual adjustable LED lights add intimate drama to the scene.
