The Assayer’s Nativity is a line of special creations, bringing the birth of the Savior in a repurposed Assayer’s Box.  The figures used in this design are from the Original Ulrich Collection of ULPE Wood Art of Val Gardena, Italy.  They are made of alpine maple and are nestled in an intimate grotto.  In the back of the case is an original painting of a renaissance night’s sky.  Assayer’s boxes have their roots in the turn of the century as traveling scales used by assayers and apothecaries to measure precious metals and pharmaceuticals.  This Nativity was commissioned as a wedding gift.  Personal items of the Bride and Groom were hidden among the intricate details of this one-of-a-kind piece.
