This figure depicts a dark sheep lying down with a lamb, part of the Pema Kostner collection by Pema Woodcarvings. It is hand-carved and hand-painted in Val Gardena, Italy.

The Dark Sheep Lying with Lamb is a hand-carved wooden nativity figure from the Pema Kostner collection by Pema Woodcarvings, based in Val Gardena, Italy. This figure represents a resting adult sheep with a lamb nestled beside it, both detailed with naturalistic fur texture and painted in dark brown hues with lighter faces and legs. The sheep and lamb each wear a small bell around their necks, adding to the traditional pastoral scene.

Crafted from wood and finished with hand-painting, this figure exemplifies the artisan nativity figures for which Pema Woodcarvings is known. The Pema Kostner line features small nativity sets and figures, typically ranging from 9.5 to 16 cm in scale, suitable for indoor nativity scenes. Navidad Nativities, a respected US retailer, selects and ships these figures, ensuring quality and authenticity. This figure is ideal for collectors seeking traditional, hand-carved wooden nativity animals from Italy.
