This Group of Dark Sheep from the Pema Kostner collection represents traditional nativity animals hand-carved and hand-painted by Pema Woodcarvings of Val Gardena, Italy. The figures feature detailed carving and realistic coloring.

The Group of Dark Sheep is a hand-carved wooden nativity figure set from the Pema Kostner collection by Pema Woodcarvings, a renowned Italian studio based in Val Gardena. This set features a standing sheep and a lamb resting beside it, both meticulously carved and hand-painted to capture the texture and natural coloration of dark sheep. The figures are part of a traditional nativity animal series designed to complement indoor nativity scenes.

Crafted from wood, these figures are finished with detailed painting that highlights the curly wool and gentle expressions of the sheep. Offered in sizes ranging from 9.5 to 16 cm, they fit well into small to medium nativity sets. Pema Woodcarvings is known for its artisan wooden nativity figures, selected and shipped through the Navidad Nativities workshop, which has a legacy of quality and authenticity in nativity craftsmanship.
