This hand-carved wooden figure from the Pema Rainell collection depicts a boy holding a lantern and gently resting his hand on a sheep. Crafted in Val Gardena, Italy, it exemplifies traditional Italian nativity artistry with hand-painted details.

The Boy with Sheep and Lantern figure is part of the Pema Rainell line by Pema Woodcarvings, known for their finely hand-carved and hand-painted wooden nativity figures from Val Gardena, Italy. This figure represents a young shepherd boy carrying a lantern, symbolizing guidance and care, accompanied by a detailed sheep. The figure is crafted with naturalistic carving techniques and painted to highlight textures such as the boy's curly hair and the sheep's wool.

Offered in sizes ranging from 9 to 15 cm, this piece fits well within small nativity sets and traditional shepherd scenes. The figure's warm earth tones and delicate paintwork reflect the artisan heritage of the region. As an indoor collectible nativity figure, it complements other traditional Christmas nativity sets and is selected and shipped by Navidad Nativities, a respected US retailer known for curating authentic European nativity art.
