An original painting of a softly hued renaissance sky forms the magical backdrop for this enchanting nativity reminiscent of the architecture in ancient Judea. Jesus, Mary and Joseph are simply surrounded by a reverent ox and donkey and an adoring angel. This entire piece is crafted of wood, with delicate stucco finishes and fine detailing throughout. Note the intricate Roman tile work in the front of the setting.
The classic figures are meticulously crafted of terra cotta and draped in starched fabric and are from the studios of Belenes Puig of Barcelona Spain. Each piece is hand painted by Spanish artisans in soft colors. The standing figure of Joseph is 6” tall. Additional figures are available.
The Bethlehem Manger is presented in a glass museum style case, which protects the piece and makes storage easier. It can be displayed without the glass cover if preferred. The overall size of the base is 15.75” x 19.75”, and with the cover is 13.75” tall. This nativity is not internally lit and can be displayed surrounded by small white fairy or micro lights.
As with all Navidad nativities, a piece of rock from the hills of Umbria outside of Assisi is included in the setting as a tribute to St. Francis who created the first nativity in 1223.
